ALVA, Okla. - An Alva police officer and his wife have been arrested after investigators accused them of financially exploiting an 82-year-old man for more than $74,000, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
Andrew McVicker, 28, and Abbigale McVicker, 24, were taken into custody Saturday, Aug. 29, in Enid after the Woods County District Court issued arrest warrants for the couple a day earlier.
Both were booked into the Garfield County Jail on charges of exploitation of an elderly person and conspiracy.
Andrew McVicker, a current Alva Police Department officer, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, the OSBI said.
The case dates to March, when the Oklahoma Department of Human Services' Adult Protective Services received information about the possible exploitation of an 82-year-old Alva man.
During its investigation, DHS learned that Andrew and Abbigale McVicker had moved into the man's home in 2023. Investigators said Andrew McVicker was added to the man's bank accounts and given power of attorney around that time.
DHS turned its findings over to the Woods County District Attorney's Office, which requested assistance from the OSBI on June 29.
OSBI special agents reviewing the man's finances found that Andrew McVicker withdrew approximately $15,900 from the victim's bank accounts between April 2025 and May 2026.
Investigators also found more than $25,000 in transfers through Cash App from Andrew McVicker to his wife between January 2024 and March 2026. According to the OSBI, those transfers were made without the 82-year-old man's knowledge or consent.
Authorities estimate the total financial exploitation at more than $74,000.
The OSBI did not provide details about the remaining transactions that contributed to the estimated $74,000 total.
The Enid Police Department took the McVickers into custody the day after the warrants were issued.
The OSBI investigated the case with assistance from the Alva Police Department, Woods County Sheriff's Office, Enid Police Department and Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
