TULSA, Okla. — A 61-year-old man is expected to face felony charges after allegedly attacking a convenience store clerk with a machete and being shot during the confrontation, according to the Tulsa Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 8:17 a.m. on June 11, 2026, to a reported shooting at Naifeh’s Food Mart near 200 North Mohawk Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they found 61-year-old Donald Lockridge sitting outside the store suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip.

Lockridge was transported to a local hospital with injuries that police said were not considered life-threatening.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and interviewed the store clerk to determine what led to the shooting.

According to police, Lockridge entered the store carrying a machete and began yelling while swinging the weapon.

Investigators said he made his way behind the counter and allegedly attempted to strike the clerk with the machete.

The clerk exited the store and retrieved a firearm from his vehicle. Police said Lockridge followed him outside before returning to the store.

When the clerk re-entered the business, Lockridge allegedly attacked him again with the machete.

During the confrontation, the clerk fired his weapon, striking Lockridge in the hip.

After the shooting, the clerk called 911 and remained at the scene.

Tulsa police said the investigation remains ongoing, but Lockridge is expected to be booked into the Tulsa County Jail on a charge of Assault with a Deadly Weapon once he is medically cleared for release from the hospital.

No other injuries were reported.
