McAlester Shooting Leaves One Dead, Suspect Arrested

MCALESTER, Okla. — A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left one person dead and two others injured in McAlester, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

The McAlester Police Department requested assistance from the OSBI following the shooting, which occurred June 5, 2026.

Officers responded at approximately 10:45 p.m. to the 800 block of North Ninth Street after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, officers found two adult men and an adult woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

All three victims were treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital.

Authorities said the female victim and one of the male victims are in stable condition and are expected to recover. The second male victim later died from his injuries.

Following an investigation, OSBI agents and McAlester police identified 20-year-old Jeshaud Washington as the suspect.

Washington was arrested and booked into the Pittsburg County Jail.

Investigators said the case remains active. Once the investigation is completed, the OSBI will submit its findings to the Pittsburg County District Attorney's Office for a determination on formal charges.
