Man Arrested After Pointing Rifle at Officers, Leading to Standoff in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — A man was taken into custody after allegedly pointing a rifle at officers, prompting an officer-involved shooting and a prolonged standoff, according to police.

The incident occurred around 5:28 p.m. on April 8, 2026, in the 2200 block of Southwest 96th Street, where officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance involving a firearm.

Police said as officers arrived, Charles Ray Henry Jr., 35, raised and pointed a rifle at them. An officer discharged a firearm in response.

Authorities said Henry then fled to a nearby backyard, where he barricaded himself between a shed and a fence.

Officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department Tactical Unit responded and engaged in a lengthy standoff before Henry ultimately surrendered.

He was medically cleared and booked into jail on complaints related to the incident.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation remains ongoing.
