TULSA, Okla. - A 22-year-old man is accused of posing as an apartment maintenance worker before pulling a gun on a woman, tying her up and forcing her to withdraw money from an ATM during one of two robberies investigated by Tulsa police.

Brandon Emilian Palamino Banuelos was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County Jail on two counts of first-degree robbery, kidnapping and two counts of second-degree burglary.

The first case was reported around 3:41 p.m. Aug. 25 at an apartment near 48th Street and 73rd East Avenue.

According to the Tulsa Police Department, the woman told investigators that a man posing as a maintenance worker had entered her apartment several days earlier, shortly after a legitimate maintenance employee had been there, claiming he needed to check the electrical breakers.

The same man returned Aug. 25 and again claimed he needed to check the breakers.

Police said the woman continued with her normal activities until the lights in her apartment suddenly went out. The man then approached her with a handgun, tied her up and took her cellphone and cash.

Investigators said the robber was apparently dissatisfied with what he had taken and untied the woman before forcing her to accompany him to an ATM to withdraw additional money.

He then forced her back to the apartment, dropped her off and drove away in her vehicle, police said.

Officers later found the stolen car abandoned in a neighborhood near 51st Street and Mingo Road.

Robbery detectives canvassed the area and obtained video showing a man matching images captured by the victim's doorbell camera. Police said the man was seen getting into a pickup truck shortly after the stolen car was abandoned.

Investigators later connected the suspect to a second home robbery near 29th Place and 111th East Avenue.

In that case, police said a woman returned home and encountered a man armed with a shotgun inside the residence. The intruder took her vehicle and some belongings and threatened to return the following week, according to police.

Detectives used evidence from both cases to identify Palamino Banuelos as the suspect. Police said automatic license plate readers were also used during the investigation.

Shortly after the second robbery was reported, detectives and patrol officers located Palamino Banuelos and took him into custody.

Police recovered the vehicle stolen during the second robbery as well as firearms matching descriptions of the weapons used in both incidents.
